(October 23-28, 2006, Novosibirsk)
The Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, with the support of the Presidium of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, offers to renew the tradition of holding All-Russian archaeological congresses, laid down in the XIX century. From 1869 to 1911, 15 congresses of Russian archaeologists were held, which contributed to the development of domestic archaeological science. In the USSR, the role and functions of archaeological congresses were performed by the annual sessions of the Department of History of the USSR Academy of Sciences and the plenums of the Institute of Archeology of the USSR Academy of Sciences, where the results of research were presented, prospects for the development of science were discussed, and the most relevant directions were determined.
Today, there is an urgent need to organize regular All-Russian scientific forums that allow us to go beyond the narrow problems of the regional plan, consider methodological and theoretical issues, and bring up topics that are key for modern archaeology for discussion.
The All-Russian Archaeological Congress will be held on October 23-28 in Novosibirsk. The congress is planned to work in the following areas::
- formation and development of cultural traditions in the Paleolithic of Eurasia
- interaction of primitive culture and the natural environment
- cultural processes in Neolithic Eurasia
- problems of Bronze Age archaeology in Eurasia
- cultures and communities of the Scythian world and antiquity
- cultural interaction in the Hunno-Sarmatian period
- Slavic, Finnish and Turkic populations of Eurasia in the Middle Ages
- archaeological study of the medieval city
- ethnogenesis of the peoples of Eurasia
- problems of studying primitive art
- multidisciplinary approach to archaeological research
- theory, methodology, historiography of Russian archeology
